Americanization Movement
With the massive influx of immigrants coming to the states, many different cultures were budding in the cities. In order to help the many cultures grow towards dominant culture in America, the Americanization movement was introduced by the government. The movement created programs which helped immigrants learn English and learn subjects of American culture such as American history, the government and its laws, etiquette, and other traditions in the states. Although there were many efforts to enforce this, many immigrants wanted to stick with the traditions of their own countries and this led to grouping of certain ethnicities in cities, which eventually lead to overpopulation and played a large role in the urbanization movement.
