Theodore Roosevelt
Theodore Roosevelt was a rough riding president and the youngest president, at 42 years old. He used his personality and popularity to advance programs. His strong leadership skills and publicity campaigns made him a model for all presidents to come. He believed the government should assume control whenever states proved to be incapable of dealing with problems on their own. He came up with the Square Deal, where various progressive reforms sponsored by his administration would be employed to help common people who were victimized by big businesses. Roosevelt also concentrated a lot of his efforts into the Sherman Antitrust act. His real goal, however, was federal regulation. He helped to regulate railroads and implemented laws and policies that benefit the public health and environment.
